  Prevention is better than Insurance

We see a lot of claims, approximately 1,400 in 2006 alone.  It is frustrating to see claims repeat themselves, especially claims that can be easily prevented.  Attention to some simple loss prevention tips can save you time, money and aggravation.

Home & Business:

Protect your computer data from fire, water, theft or simply from a hard drive crash – Often, the most valuable asset of your computer is the data itself.  The real solution is to backup your data regularly and store it at another location.  Today, there is no excuse to lose data.  There are many affordable, high-capacity data storage devices such as USB drives or writable CD and DVDs.  Businesses have even more options for data backup.  Digital photos, financial data, email correspondence, client data and other personal or business records can be irreplaceable.  Hardware can easily be replaced; data can too, if a regular back is part of your routine.

Automobile:

Broken window, stolen contents – “Smash and grab” theft happens all the time.  It takes only a few seconds for a thief to look into your vehicle, break a window and be off with your property.  Store your packages and personal items out of sight, preferably in the trunk to avoid this all too common occurrence.

Winter tires – Both the heavier tire tread and the softer rubber adhere better to our winter roads than “All Season” tires, even on clean, dry roads.

Buying insurance is a good way to protect your interests; adding some basic loss prevention techniques can protect the uninsurable too.
