  • Analysis of provincial legislative changes and the impact they will have on the cost of benefits.
    • For certain benefits changes, this might apply for only one province, therefore we will help you understand the change and whether or not it should apply to all employees.

  • Benefits changes and their impact on the premium.
    • When there are union negotiations, it is extremely important to know what consequences a modification will have on both current and future premiums.

  • Involvement in service issues, such as turnaround time on claims, disability claims, and interpretation of benefits.

  • Review of contracts and booklets when changes to benefits are made.

  • Ensure that employees who are eligible for premium waiver have submitted their forms to the insurance carrier.

  • Annual renewal review. This includes verification of renewal formulas including:
    1. Retention factors (cost charged by insurer to administer the plan)
    2. Pooling credits
    3. Pooling charges
    4. Fee guide and utilization factors for dental
    5. Trend factor for medical benefit
    6. Age and gender distribution changes for Life and Long Term Disability
    7. Credibility factors used for Life, Long Term Disability, Weekly Indemnity, Medical & Dental
    8. Reserves factors for Weekly Indemnity, Medical and Dental
    9. Review of disability claims including duration of diagnostic, by division, by age and gender
    10. Review of medical claims by type of services and by division
    11. Review of dental claims by type of service and by division
    12. Review of Employee Assistance Program
