Accident Benefits
Accident benefits/medical: This insurance
covers occupants of a vehicle in the event
of injury. It varies widely from province
to province. The following coverage may be
included: income replacement, medical payments,
funeral expenses and rehabilitation.
Loss of Use
Loss of Use pays for the cost of a rental
car (or other transportation costs) while
your vehicle is being repaired after an
insured loss (i.e. accident, theft)
Legal Liability for non-owned autos
This extension covers the physical damage
to a short-term rental car. Your policy
deductibles apply to the rental car and
this coverage is subject to a maximum limit
as defined on the policy.
Replacement cost
Auto coverage is insured on an Actual Cash Value (ACV) basis. Often Replacement cost coverage can be bought on new cars for a set time period (2, 3 or 4 years). This extension of coverage changes the way a claim is settled - effectively eliminating the depreciation of the vehicle. Replacement Cost coverage can also be purchased for used or pre-owned vehicles. Please contact us for more details.
Family Protection (Ontario)
The Family Protection Endorsement provides
a minimum coverage for your family's injury
compensation. If a third party is at fault
for an auto accident that results in member(s)
of your family being injured, the minimum
benefits available to you will be the amounts
carried under your own policy. This would
come into effect should the responsible
party have less liability coverage than
your own policy. In effect, the Family Protection
Endorsement covers the difference between
the value of your claim and the third party's
limit of liability insurance, subject to
your own Third Party Liability limit.
This coverage is not available in Quebec.
Uninsured Motorist (Ontario)
The law requires you to pay for any damages
for which you are held legally responsible
in an accident. Uninsured Motorist Coverage
provides protection if the party responsible
is not insured and cannot pay for your damages.
This coverage is not available in Quebec.
