+ Baggage Identification

The next time that you travel we strongly recommend that you write your business address (if possible) on the external baggage tags instead of your home address for the following security reason:

Your bag(s) will pass through many hands while you travel by air. In today’s high tech society, it is very easy for anyone to quickly take a picture of your external baggage tag using their cell phone and then send it off in a text or by email to contacts that will then visit your house to make sure that there is, in fact, no one left at home.  This is an absolute invitation for break-ins. The thieves know that they can then take their time emptying your house and any valued possessions.

This kind of crime is very difficult to prosecute since it is almost impossible to track down the individuals responsible.  After all, several parties are involved in transmitting the information.

+ Registration of Canadians Abroad

The Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada website offer a registration service for all Canadians travelling or living abroad. This service is provided so the government can contact and assist you in an emergency situation in a foreign country; such as, a natural disaster or civil conflict or even to inform you of a family emergency at home.
